We give for publication this “Song Bouquet Third Volume” with filial love and respect. It is, at the very least, a duty and a supremely pleasurable and sacred obligation, with which we are also happy to announce that the next volumes will soon follow.
Let this volume be a beautiful testimony to our precious and immortal father, Grikor Suni, based on the confident reverence and deep appreciation with which our family was founded and maintained. At the same time, let it remain as an historical document of that familiar, warm atmosphere, in which we saw our talented father as extraordinary and gifted. He had an internal calling for Armenian music, devoting his entire life to Armenian song, especially to the collection and development of the sacred Armenian folk songs. For him, recreating and bringing to life of Armenian folklore and art became a supreme purpose, for which he sacrificed everything, to the point of sacrificing his physical health. With pride we inscribe here that Grikor Suni in addition to recreating Armenian folk songs also at the same time became the diasporan founder of a liberating and revolutionary art, which, through his inspiration, achieved a true expression of the struggle of humanity’s very earliest beginnings, as well as the spirited ideas celebrating the reality of the splendid flowering of the Armenian Homeland.
Therefore we, with filial consciousness, now find the publication of this volume a pleasurable duty, and we take this opportunity to express our deep appreciation to the Suni Publication Committee’s self-sacrificing and eternally young chairperson and leader, Dr. Lucy Gulezian, without whose inspiring and endless enthusiasm the appearance of “Song Bouquet” would have been impossible.
